On Writing.

As I begin reworking Chapter 5 in my story, I was thinking about how this story started, and how far along it has come. It began during Camp Nanowrimo in April, 2016, and I had written a rough draft by the end of November, 2016 for Nanowrimo. The rough draft was just over 103,000 words, and 24 chapters.
Frankly, it was terrible. I look back and laugh at the matter, but in the moment I was petrified. I wanted to write something to publish, but the draft needed completely redone.
I mean, I had two time jumps in the story that were over a year combined. It gave me a plot hole so big you could pilot the Death Star through.
So I began immediately after Nanowrimo to rewrite the rough draft into something more palatable. This second draft looked more like a story. The plot was more realistic, and things were paced at a more reasonable speed.
After that, I grammar checked it and rewrote the entire thing, altering sentences, and fixing minor errors. Then I sent it off to beta readers.
They were amazing, but picked up on issues I had missed. Some were minor, but others gave me continuity errors and forced parts of the story to be rewritten.
So now I am on my third (technically fourth) draft to fix these issues and make everything cohesive for publishing!
It has been a long process, but a fun one nonetheless. It is interesting to see how much has changed in my story, but how much has remained the same. I am excited to finish this draft and prep the story for publishing!
Someday, if there is interest, I might post some chapters from my rough draft to share. To encourage others and show how much my beta readers have helped me, as have anonymous people online who I have bounced questions off of.
Thank you for supporting me, and the patience as I forge my way ahead! While I may be sporadic in posting, I appreciate your comments, likes, and shares!
